Our organization is targeted towards helping people in the country of Haiti.
Who We are
Escarment Foundation for the Needy is a humanitarian organization in North Miami, FL, which was founded in 2005 and is dedicated to helping combat hunger, providing necessary life saving medical supplies, and education. We opened our first orphanage in Port au Prince, Haiti in 2011 as well as 2 schools in St. Louis Du Nord. Our mission is to give to those in need.
Our Founder
Modira Escarment (1962-2021 )
Growing up in Saint Louis du Nord, Haiti, Modira harbored a profound desire to give back to the community that had shaped his upbringing. Having personally witnessed the challenges and hardships faced by the local residents, he felt a deep-seated inspiration to effect meaningful change. Driven by a strong sense of responsibility and compassion, he embarked on a philanthripic journey to establish the Escarment Foundation for the Needy in 2005. Through this organization, he set out to tackle the pressing issues of hunger, homelessness, and education, with the goal of improving the lives of those in his hometown and beyond. Modira’s profound connection to Haiti fueled his unwavering commitment to humanitarian efforts, ultimately transforming his vision of positive change into a reality. Through the foundation he was able to open several schools in his hometown of Saint-Louis-du-Nord and an orphanage in Port au Prince in 2012.

The legacy of The Escarment Foundation continues to thrive through the unwavering dedication of Modira's wife and children. They have taken up the mantle of his noble mission, ensuring that his vision of compassion and assistance endures. His first daughter, Dinah Escarment, plays a pivotal role as Director in managing and expanding the foundation's initiatives to not only combat hunger, homelessness, and education but to reach out to the medical community who is in desperate need of life saving supplies and medical equipment. His wife, a pillar of strength, has devoted herself to helping those in need in their local community and abroad, helping to bring awareness to the challenges many families face. Their children, inspired by their father's selfless commitment, actively participate in the organization's endeavors, embracing the values instilled by Modira himself. Through their collective efforts, the foundation's impact continues to grow, carrying forward the legacy of making a positive difference in the lives of those in need, not only in Haiti but in the broader community as well.
